Preston Williams recently began crafting bridles for me, and I must say, I adore these bits. This one here is my personal ‘magic bit.’ We refer to these other bridles as the ones that AD Tack sells. This is the original magic bit. It features rollers, and although some people might not think they’re necessary, horses actually prefer having copper in their mouth. It encourages them to salivate, which is better for them to hold and palate the bit properly. These bits are superbly constructed. For instance, this one is cow horse legal; it has stiff shanks, a slobber bar, and rollers – everything needed for a working cow horse. Many cow horse and cutting horse trainers, including champion Matt Miller, favor the magic bit for their horses.
Preston Williams also creates a variety of other impressive bits, including these snaffles. Notice this one has small buttons that limit the ring’s sliding but also make it an attractive, show-legal snaffle bit. Then, there’s a training snaffle with twisted wire. This bit is durable enough to last a lifetime. It’s designed to lighten your horse, offering a nice, long pull when slid across the horse’s mouth, which softens it. So, when you return to the bridle, your horse will feel soft and relaxed.
One of the all-time favorites, which I personally like as well, is the heavy ring snaffle. It’s substantial, allowing you to gently pull on your horse, rock its head and face, and then release. Due to its weight, the release is more effective. At Preston Williams and AD Tack, we collaborate to create some fantastic bits, tailored just for you.
