This Vintage Visalia Humane bit is just fantastic. I purchased it from an accomplished horse woman who showed cow horses through the 60’s & 70’s. It is in fantastic condition, and is ready to grace the show pen yet again.
D.E. Walker founded the Visalia Stock and Saddle Company in 1870 in Visalia, California. In 1887, the company relocated to San Francisco. While Visalia initially gained prominence for its high-quality saddles, its catalog also featured a diverse range of equipment including bits, spurs, and various hardware such as conchos, buckles, and silver items.
Known for its expert craftsmanship, Visalia’s bits and spurs have become highly prized among collectors. Over the years, the company has undergone numerous ownership changes, with at least eight different owners, yet it continues to offer saddles, bits, and other equestrian goods.
Among Visalia’s most renowned products is the Vintage Visalia Humane Bit. Visalia outsourced the manufacturing of its bits, spurs, and silver items, and provided distinct maker’s mark stamps to its craftsmen.
